As many of in the JC neighborhood have watched and observed there is a major construction project going on Humboldt St for over a year. It will be the expanded campus for the Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts. The additions will be a 2 story classroom building with music room, dance studio, theater and science lab and admin and staff buildigs. The school opened in 2007 and is an alternative for parents looking for an art-centered school.

The plans were designed to fit with the architecture of the neighborhood and from what I can see, as it is still a work in progress, there is a strong Craftsman feel. Although contruction was to be completed this July the new date is January 2017. The school was lucky to find a temporary home at Lewis School on Lomitas. The expansion will allow for an additional 50 students to the present enrollment of 380.

I like that we have alternative educational resources in Santa Rosa and especially in the JC area. Looks as though it will be pretty cool when it is completed can hardly wait to see. it.
