New home buiders are thinking that buyers want smaller homes than they did a few years ago— interesting but not really surprising. First time buyers in my world care about open concept—could care less about a formal living room and diningroom. It is a more social, family, gathering life style.The other difference that I am seeing is the yard doesn’t need to be large but private is important. Thinking there is a boom coming for landscape architects because good design is so important in achieving the flow and inclusion of the yard. These issues are more directed to first time buyers and empty nesters but light and open (old real estate buzz words) will continue to be important.
