Annual Junior College Neighborhood Assoc. held their picnic on Sunday. Lots of BBQ and neighbors brought dishes to share. I was in charge of the raffle and so was busy selling tickets and meeting new people. There were several stand out raffle prizes– one a gorgeous potted flower arrangement from our neighborhood nursery Kings on 13th Street– a beautiful place to wander of a beautiful summer weekend. Russian River Brewery donated a Blind Pig shirt with a bottle of matching beer and that was in great demand.
I love living in the JC neighborhood, in part because we have great picnics every year but there are so many wonderful people who have a sense of community which is rare and should be treasured. Come take a walk in my hood–lots of heirloom plants and flowers and some very cool vintage houses. I promise people will smile and say HI.
